Lila, You’re correct that cannabis seeds can legally be given away in Virginia as long as there is no exchange of money or anything of value for the seeds themselves.
Where it gets tricky is shipping. If you ask someone to “pay for shipping,” the state might view that as an indirect exchange for the seeds

    Hi Lila
No, I have never tried marigolds, however I have used alfalfa as a grown covering in some of my outdoor pots.

Using alfalfa as a ground cover in cannabis pots helps your plants grow better because it keeps the soil moist, adds natural nitrogen back into the soil, and boosts beneficial microbes that make nutrients easier for the plant to absorb. Alfalfa also releases a natural growth hormone called triacontanol, which can make cannabis grow faster, develop thicker stems, and produce bigger and more aromatic buds. It basically acts like a living mulch — protecting the soil, feeding it over time, and creating a healthier root environment without synthetic fertilizers.

That’s awesome! Totally agree — keeping Malawi Gold unfeminized really does help preserve that authentic landrace essence. There’s something special about working with genetics that haven’t been overly hybridized. That golden-green hue and electric sativa energy you mentioned are exactly what make this strain legendary.

Out of curiosity, how long does your Malawi usually take to flower? I’ve heard some phenos can go 14+ weeks, but that payoff is worth every bit of patience. 🌿💛

    Hello, Popper2

I looked and according the the laws in Virginia….The law says that clones/seeds and young plants count as parts of the “marijuana plant,” and giving those away for value or commercial purpose is not legal.

I’d say: If you’re just giving a clone to another adult (21+) as a true gift, with no money, no strings attached, and no deal involved, you’re probably okay legally or at least safer.

But if you’re giving clones a lot, advertising “free clones,” tying them to something else, or giving them to someone under 21, that could get you into a legal gray area.

This is such a great topic, Nyrobi 👏 — thank you for opening this up. What really stands out to me is how people’s experiences with cannabis as medicine can vary so widely. Some find it life-changing, while others say it only helps under certain conditions or strains.

Personally, I’ve always been curious about how the different cannabinoids (like CBG or CBN) play into symptom relief beyond just THC and CBD. It makes me wonder — are we only scratching the surface of what this plant can really do for healing? 🌱

💭 For those who’ve experimented with medical or herbal use, what have you noticed works better — indica, sativa, or specific hybrids?
And do you think natural plant synergy (using the whole flower instead of isolates) makes a real difference?

Let’s hear your thoughts — your story might help someone else find the right path to healing. 🙌
